During the summer months, the library will operate under adjusted opening hours as follows:
From Monday, June 29, 2026, to Friday, August 7, 2026, the library’s opening hours will be reduced to 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
From Monday, August 10, 2026, to Friday, September 25, 2026, the library will be completely closed due to the ongoing renovation of the Loan and Reference Services Department.
As Monday, September 28, 2026, is a public holiday, the library will reopen on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The library reserves the right to modify the information regarding the closure during the course of the renovation.
During the closure, lending, information, interlibrary loans and reprographic services will not be available, and access to the study room and cloakroom will not be permitted.
If your registration remains valid at least until September 29, 2026, the loan period for borrowed materials has been or will be extended until September. The holding period for materials reserved in the reading room has also been extended. However, if your registration expires during the closure, automatic loan renewals will not apply. We therefore recommend checking the validity of your registration in your user account and, if necessary, renewing it before the closure or returning borrowed materials on time. We also recommend checking the due dates of your current loans. If you have any questions, please contact servis@knav.cz.
Books may be returned during the closure using the book return box located to the right next to the staircase at the entrance inside the building (please ring the bell from outside). Documents returned during this period will be removed from user accounts on a daily basis.
Even while the library is closed for renovation, you may continue to access our electronic information resources remotely.
To renew your registration or create a new registration during the closure, you may use the Bank iD online registration and obtain or renew your registration for one year (or three years for employees of the Czech Academy of Sciences for free). In this case, you will gain access to electronic resources immediately after payment of the registration fee.
