Digitisation Centre

Established in 2004, the Digitisation Centre of the Library of the CAS is one of the most advanced in the Czech Republic. Its creation was prompted by the 2002 floods, highlighting the need to safeguard the contents of endangered books and documents.

The Centre primarily focuses on digitising journals and monographs published by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. These digitized documents are made available through the Digital Library of the Academy of Sciences.
A key priority is the digitisation of old prints from the library’s historical collection, along with regular processing of materials from other libraries and institutions.

The Centre maintains long-term collaborations with the Institute of Archaeology, the Institute of Art History, and the Institute of Czech Literature of the CAS. It also participates in the international eBooks on Demand service.

In 2023, the Digitisation Centre scanned 265,279 objects/pages, including external orders.
